Thursday October 24th
Independent Arrivals at the Empire Hotel, one of New York’s landmark hotels located conveniently on Broadway at 63rd Street, directly across the street from Lincoln Center. Coach Arrival from Ottawa Canada. Wine and Cheese Reception prior to this evening’s performance.

 

Friday March 28th

Our first performance together will be Strauss’ comic masterpiece Ariadne auf Naxos at the Metropolitan Opera. The world’s greatest interpreters of this delightful work will be brought together this evening. James Levine conducts: Deborah Voigt, Natalie Dessay, Susanne Mentzer, Richard Margison and Wolfgang Brendel.

Saturday March 29th

We explore two of Manhattan’s fascinating neighborhoods this morning. With our expert guide, we will trace the historic evolution of SoHo and NoLiTa, from Italian neighborhood to artist colony, from remote farmland to the Cast Iron District of fashionable galleries and boutiques. Stops include the little Singer Building, the San Gandolfo Society, and sites associated with Bill "the Butcher" Poole, James Monroe, and Keith Haring.

This afternoon is at leisure. We present the option of attending a performance at either New York City Opera or the Metropolitan Opera.

Option I: Gounod’s Faust returns to the Met in Rolf Langenfass’s beautiful production. Bertrand de Billy conducts: Angela Gheorghiu, Roberto Alagna, Dwayne Croft and James Morris. (Supplemental ticket price $195 Prime Orchestra)

Option II: Sondheim’s masterpiece A Little Night Music brightens the stage of the New York State Theatre in NYCO’s enchanting production. (Supplemental ticket price $100 Prime Orchestra)
This evening, we return to the Met for Elijah Moshinsky’s riveting production of Verdi’s Otello. An extraordinary cast of singing actors has been brought together for tonight’s performance. Valery Gergiev conducts: Barbara Frittoli in her signature role of Desdemona, with Vladimir Galouzine as Otello, and Nikolai Putilin as Iago.

Sunday March 30th

We begin the day with a guided tour of the Brooklyn Museum of Art, one of the country’s premiere collections. The recently renovated beaux arts building features one of the most outstanding collections of Egyptian Art in the world. The special exhibition “Magic –The Supernatural and The Fantastic” will be featured during our visit.

This afternoon, we are very excited to bring you to BAM – The Brooklyn Academy of Music. One of the most innovative presenters of the performing arts in the world, BAM’s spring season features guest opera companies from around the globe. We anticipate an exciting operatic performance this afternoon – the details of which will be available in the fall. (TBA)

Monday March 31st

This morning, we travel to the northern most tip of Manhattan to visit the Cloisters, The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s extraordinary collection of medieval art. Among the treasures to be explored are the Unicorn Tapestries, as well as sculpture, illuminated manuscripts, stained glass, ivory and precious metalwork, all housed in the unique setting that incorporates actual 12th to 15th century cloisters from five medieval monasteries, a Romanesque chapel, and a 12th century Spanish apse.

Afternoon at leisure.

We have planned an event that you are sure to remember for years to come. This evening, our group will enjoy a combined private wine tasting and song recital featuring singers from the Metropolitan Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, and New York City Opera. This exclusive event will feature fine wines partnered with delicious food and classical song from the regions from which our wines have been selected. From the wine and song of France, and Germany to Italy and Spain, this evening will surely be a highlight of your week in New York.

Tuesday April 1st

Our expert guided tour this morning features the historic and gastronomic delights of the Jewish East Side, Chinatown, and Little Italy. On this multi-ethnic eating tour, you will learn about this fascinating "land of the immigrants" while munching on everything from plantains to bialys to dim sum to fresh mozzarella.

This afternoon, take a fascinating look behind the scenes as we go backstage at the Metropolitan Opera House.

Tonight we return to the opera for Franco Zeffirelli’s staging of La Bohème. Puccini’s passionate story of young love receives a lavish and compelling treatment in one of the Met’s most popular productions. Julius Rudel conducts: Hei-Kyung Hong, Angela Maria Blasi, Frank Lopardo, and Mariusz Kwiecien.

Wednesday April 2nd

This morning, we will enjoy a private guided tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s special exhibition, Manet and Velazquez – The French Taste for Spanish Painting. Following our tour, you will have the opportunity to explore the museum’s stunning collection and additional special exhibitions.
Afternoon at leisure. It is possible to attend a matinee performance of a Broadway Musical or Play. Your Pro Musica concierge is pleased to assist you in securing tickets to your choice of performance.

This evening, we will enjoy a farewell dinner together at Tavern on the Green, a New York landmark that
features both delicious cuisine and an enchanting setting in Central Park. Following dinner, we present two options for this evening’s opera.

Option I: Verdi’s Nabucco takes the stage of the Met in a monumental production by Elijah Moshinsky with Sets by John Napier. James Levine conducts: Andrea Gruber, Wendy White, Francisco Casanova, Lado Ataneli and Samuel Ramey.

Option II: Mark Adamo’s operatic adaptation of the classic novel Little Women has quickly become one of the most successful contemporary operas in years. The richly melodic score and moving story of the March sisters is brought to life under the expert hand of director Rhoda Levine in New York City Opera’s new co-production with Glimmerglass Opera.

Thursday April 3rd
