Tuesday May 10th
Independent arrivals at the Novotel Manhattan. Located on Broadway at 52nd Street, the four-diamond Novotel combines comfort and convenience close to Central Park, 5th Avenue Shopping, and the Theatre District. Coach arrival from Ottawa, Canada. Wine and Cheese Reception prior to this evening's performance.
We start our tour with the Metropolitan Opera's new production of Faust. James Levine conducts Gounod's masterpiece, featuring Roberto Alagna in the title role, along side Soile Isokoski, Kristine Jepson, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, and Rene Pape.

Wednesday May 11th
After two years of extensive renovation, the Museum of Modern Art reopens its Manhattan collection in 2005, We are very excited to be able to offer our group a private tour of the new museum this morning.
Afternoon at leisure.
This evening, Mozart's opera seria, La Clemenza di Tito, returns to the Met stage in the revival of Jean-Pierre Ponnelle's famous production. An extraordinary cast of Mozart singers comes together under the baton of James Levine, including Heidi Grant Murphy, Melanie Diener, Anne Sofie von Otter, Sarah Connolly, Frank Lopardo, and Luca Pisaroni.

Thursday May 12th
Morning at leisure.
This afternoon, we will enjoy a private vocal masterclass. Led by a member of the Metropolitan Opera music staff, you will have the unique opportunity to hear a group of young artists from the Met and New York City Opera being coached in the arias and roles they are preparing for performance.

This evening, we will attend a special concert of works by Bach and Stravinsky
by the New York Philharmonic as part of their 'Visions of Beyond' festival. Violinist and Conductor Pinchas Zukerman is the virtuoso featured on this concert: First, in the 3rd and 5th Brandenburg Concerti; then as the devil-dealing title character of Stravinsky's dance pantomime, Histoire du Soldat, which will be brought to life by a full cast of dancers and musicians.

Friday May 13th
Morning at leisure.

SoHo is one of New York's most vibrant neighborhoods, full of galleries showcasing art from around the world. On our exclusive tour this afternoon we will visit some of the most remarkable of these galleries while we explore New York's thriving art scene.
Prior to our performance this evening, we will enjoy dinner together at one of New York's finest restaurants (TBA). This evening, we are thrilled to be attending the Metropolitan Opera premier of Franco Alfano's Cyrano de Bergerac. Placido Domingo stars in the title role, along side Sondra Radvanovsky, Raymond Very, Anthony Michaels-Moore, and Roberto de Candida. Marco Armiliato conducts.

Saturday May 14th
This morning, our private coach will transfer us from New York to the nation's capitol, Washington, D.C.
Following lunch together in historic Georgetown, we will enjoy a private guided tour of Dumbarton Oaks. This 16-acre estate is a research center and museum for studies in Byzantine and pre-Columbian art and history. The grounds include 10 stunning acres of formal landscaped gardens.

After our tour, we will check-in to the George Washington University Inn, a lovely boutique property conveniently located in Foggy Bottom near the Kennedy Center and the fascinating shops and restaurants of Georgetown. Balance of the afternoon is at leisure.
This evening, we will attend the Washington Opera production of Saint-Saens' Samson et Dalila in the newly renovated opera house of the Kennedy Center. Olga Borodina and Carl Tanner headline the cast, which also features Alan Held and Kyle Ketelsen. Conductor TBA.

Sunday May 15th
Our day begins with a panoramic tour of the nation's capitol. We will stop to visit The Capitol, Fords Theatre, the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the National Cathedral, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Jefferson Memorial; and we will also see The White House, Embassy Row, the Library of Congress, and the Washington Memorial along the way. Following our tour, the balance of the afternoon will be at leisure.

This evening, we will attend a performance of The Tempest at one of the nation's foremost classical companies, The Shakespeare Theatre. Often seen as the playwright's farewell to the theatre, The Tempest reveals a world of illusions and magic—where an angry sorcerer manipulates spirits and humans alike in his search for revenge. The Tempest is a powerful tale that unites Shakespeare's celebrated themes of love, man's vulnerability and forgiveness.

Monday May 16th
With so many fascinating museums making up the Smithsonian Institute, we have left today free for personal exploration. Our coach will transfer group members to the Smithsonian information center in the morning, from which point you are free to visit any of the museums including the African Art Museum, the American Art Museum, the Freer and Sackler Galleries of Asian Art, and the Natural History Museum.

Prior to our performance this evening, we will enjoy a delicious dinner at the Kennedy Center's Roof Terrace Restaurant. Our final performance together is Puccini's Tosca. Washington Opera has assembled a phenomenal cast, including Ines Salazar, Salvatore Licitra, and Juan Pons. Leonard Slatkin conducts.

Tuesday May 17th
Independent departures, and coach departure to Ottawa, Canada.
