Pro Musica Tours is delighted to announce our upcoming tour to Adelaide for the first full Australian Production of Wagner’s Ring. The following is preliminary detail for our upcoming tour. Pricing of this tour package will be available by the end of November.

Sunday December 5th, 2004
Welcome to Australia! Transfer to the Radisson Playford Hotel, conveniently located close to the Festival Theatre. This afternoon, we will enjoy a leisurely orientation tour of Adelaide, followed by a relaxing welcome dinner together.

 

Monday December 6th, 2004
Breakfast at our hotel.
This morning, we attend the first of a series of lectures on the Ring Operas to be given by Peter Bassett. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure in Adelaide before this evening’s performance of Das Rheingold.

 

Tuesday December 7th, 2004

This morning, Peter Bassett’s lecture centers around our performance this evening of Die Walküre. Dinner is included at the opera this evening during intermission.

 

Wednesday December 8th, 2004

Today, we leave the world of the Ring behind us (but just for a day!) to enjoy a full day tour of some of Southern Australia’s renowned wineries. This morning, we travel via the Adelaide Hills and Williamstown to enjoy private tours and tastings at Grant Burge and Charles Melton wineries. After a delicious lunch at Vintners, we will enjoy the stunning view of Tanunda from Mengler’s Hill, before continuing on to visit Maggie Beers Pheasant Farm! We round out our day with visits to the wineries of Peter Lehmann, and Langmiel before returning to Adelaide via Gawler early this evening.

 

Thursday December 9th, 2004

This morning, Peter Bassett’s lecture will bring us back to our Ring journey. Afternoon at leisure. We will enjoy dinner together at the opera during the interval of tonight’s performance, Siegfried.

 

Friday December 10th, 2004

Today we embark on a truly memorable overnight excursion to enjoy some of Australia’s remarkable wildlife. Our short scenic flight this morning will take us across the Fleurieu Peninsula Coast and Cape Jervis to Kangaroo Island. After an expert guided walk amongst the seals at Seal Bay, we will enjoy a delicious lunch at Kaiwarra Cottage. Our naturalist guide then escorts us through Flinders Chase National Park where we will have the opportunity to see kangaroos, wallabies and koalas! We continue our day’s touring visiting the remarkable rocks and Admirals Arch, and a unique penguin tour, before settling in for the night at our hotel on Kangaroo Island. (Dinner included)

 

Saturday December 11th, 2004
Breakfast at our hotel.
Our day begins with a tour of Clifford’s Honey Farm, and a visit to Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery. We then continue on to the Pardana Wildlife Refuge where we will see, up close, a variety of orphaned native animals. We will sample delicious cheeses at the Island Pure Sheep Dairy, and enjoy afternoon tea Gum Creek Marron Farm before our short return flight to Adelaide this evening.

 

Sunday December 12th, 2004

This morning, we will enjoy Peter Bassett’s final Ring lecture.
Götterdämmerung takes the stage at the Festival Theatre this afternoon, as Wagner’s Ring comes to its fiery conclusion! Afternoon Tea and Dinner is included at the opera this evening during the intervals.

 

Monday December 13th, 2004
Breakfast at our hotel. Independent Departures. If you wish to extend your stay in Australia with visits to Sydney, Melbourne and/or Cairns, please ask us about customized post tour extensions (Pre-Tour extensions are also available). Please note, you will recover the ‘lost day’ from crossing the international date line upon your return to North America.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Seven Nights Accommodations at the five star Radisson Playford Adelaide, 1 Night on Kangaroo Island.

 

MEALS: Full Breakfast Included Daily. Additional Select Meals have been included in our itinerary: 3 Lunches, 5 Dinners, Wine Tastings at Wineries. Your concierge/guide is at your disposal to assist you with any specific dining arrangements you may wish to make.

 

ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCES: At time of printing, additional information regarding additional performances in Melbourne is not available. It is likely that other performance opportunities will be available in Australia prior to, and after the Ring. All tour members will be made aware of these opportunities as further information becomes available, and Pro Musica will secure seats to these performances for our guests upon request.
